Question of the Week

Do I buy my husband a remote control stunt kite or a remote control car for his 30th birthday?

Here's Austin testing out the strength of Rusty's new hang gliding helmet.  It's pretty strong.

And because I bought Rusty a remote control helicopter last year, I decided to go for a different genre of remote control.  It was a hit.

And here we are on birthday eve trying to preserve Rusty's youth.  Does he look appropriately frozen?

Multivariate Data Analysis

It's supposed to be 70 degrees today and Rusty is inside reading an old text book.

Probably because he's flying out to Chicago next week and the list of possible interview questions include:

Count the number of palindromes between 1 and 999.

and...

Estimate the number of pizzas sold in Chicago in one day.

The only part of Chicago that is exciting at all is the possibility of living next door to Katie NW.

Happy Ides of March Jo Anne!!

Enjoy your chicken leg!

Now I'm curious - to all of my 8 sibling in-laws, what did you do with your Chinese chicken legs?

Flashback Friday - the Ides of March edition

I know that technically the Ides of March go back to 44 B.C. when Julius Caesar was assassinated.  Et tu, Brute?  But for me, they go back to when I was an overachieving Sophomore in high school.  My friend Jo Anne was in an advanced English class with me.  I thought it would be hilarious to call her on the Ides of March and in the creepiest voice I could muster declare, "Beware the Ides of March!"

Now, I use the term "hilarious" very loosely.  It's kind of like the time I was playing Monopoly with the Masons, and Melissa held a "sword" over VerrDon's head and said, "I hold the sword of damocles over your head!"  I didn't know whether to be more horrified that she thought that was funny, or because I understood the joke.

Regardless, it freaked Jo out.

So every Ides of March, I make sure to freak her out in some odd fashion, or to just call her and say hello.  My favorite was the year we were both at BYU.  Rusty and I took a small stuffed pig and butchered it.  Then we stuck it on a stake and put it in her yard in the middle of the night.  (Lord of the Flies anyone?)

Sorry Rusty looks a little pedophiliac here.

I know you're all dying to know what I did this year.  But you'll just have to wait.

Why We Can't Move to...

New Jersey - because it would take us 37 1/2 hours to drive there.  I can't do anything for 37 1/2 hours.

Hawaii - because no one is willing to pay us $200,000 a year, yet.

Chicago, IL - because it's nicknamed the "Windy City".  Even if it's a myth (like how Boise is the City of Trees), nothing good could come out of a nickname like that!  Now when Chicago renames their city to "Oprah City", we can reconsider.

Bremerton, Washington - because I made out with way too many boys that still live there.

Southern California - because my official stance on California is that the U.S. should just give it away to the highest bidder.

I think I just about covered all of Rusty's interviews...

Confession Time

So back when Rusty I and were dating, some chic drove 25 minutes to Rusty's work to have a little chat with him.  She warned him to stay away from me, and called me all sorts of horrible names.

So a few days ago, I went to my facebook page, but Rusty had his account logged in.  Well, there was a friend request from her.

And I ignored it.

Can you blame me?  I only feel slightly guilty about it.

Maybe Austin Will Finish for Me?

Just wishful thinking...I haven't been that motivated to finish my paintings.  Austin sneaked into my "project closet" and stole some painting stuff and tried to finish painting Ashlyn's walls.  Luckily, the actual paints were much too high for him.

I still thought it was cute that he tried.  The "copy-everything-mommy-does" stage is my favorite by far!

So this is as far as the castle might go.  I'm waiting to hear if we'll be moving away before I finish it.  Next time, I'm sticking to canvas.
