We made it!

We made it to Washington! We're staying at my mom's house and she doesn't have tabbed searching and I just want to shake her and tell her that that is SO 2007. So mom, here's a virtual *shake*.

Here's a couple of things that made our trip a little nicer. These things are amazing! They are 50% apple, 50% chips and 50% cracker. They defy all boundaries, even mathematical.

Here's the other thing.

This song tops my playlists right now. And anyone who knows me, knows that I hate Tom Petty, so something good came out of him, too!

Thank you Stephenie Meyer!

Wal Mart seems to bring out the worst of a town, and as I was walking through my local store the other day, I met the epitome of white trash.  I won't go into too much detail about her, but I bring her up because our hair was identical!  :O  We both had it thrown up into a scrungy pony tail with dark nasty roots and bleached ends.

So I decided to dye my hair.

I wanted it to be the same color as Austins (a medium brown), but I might have left the dye on too long or something because it turned out a really dark dark brown.  It kind of freaks me out when I look into a mirror and it scared Ashlyn (who wants me to dye it pink, like hers - and no, her hair is not pink).  Rusty really likes it or else I would have changed it back by now.  I think it makes me look really pale.  But I guess (thanks to Stephenie Meyer) that pale is the in thing right now.  So I guess something good came out of Twilight afterall...

Personal notes to people

Ginger - It's not that I don't like Scrabble, it's just that I don't like playing any game that I'm not guaranteed to win at.

Nicole - You were on a roll with your blogging!  What happened?

Carls Junior Attendent - I hope you think that when I order #1 king sized meal with a spicy chicken and a chocolate cake on the side that I'm going to share it with someone.  I won't, but I really hope you think that.

Kate and Bethany - Thanks for reminding me how much fun random chatting is!

Ex boyfriend #9 - It still bugs me that you thought I wanted to get married to you when I was secretly dating ex-boyfriend #10 and occasionally still hanging out with ex-boyfriend #8.

Misty - You're comments in the previous post drudged up bad memories.

Speaking of bad memories....

Lacey, Kelly and Becka - I secretly reroute my computer through another country so I can read your blogs without you knowing it's me.  ;)

Speaking of rerouting computers...

Try and find me now THORA!!  Ha!  Your talents only go so far.

This post is dedicated to my single sistas

So the last time I got hit on it was when I was five months pregnant with Ashlyn.  Some guy came up to me and told me that he "liked a girl with a little weight on her".  Seriously??  Is that supposed to make me want to go out with somebody?

Anyways, that all changed when I got my job.

So if you're someone who hasn't been hit on in awhile, you're in the wrong career.  Get a job at Golds, or better yet, just snag a Golds Gym employee shirt and walk around town in it.  It's amazing how guys don't look at anything past the logo.  Even the two kids your hauling around and the wedding ring on your finger...

Philadelphia Friday

OK, I get that today is not Friday.  But you can't have a "day" unless it alliterates, and I can't ever remember to alliterate when it's actually Friday.

So there you have it.  Philadelphia Fridays are going to be my feeble attempts at getting you all to watch my new favorite show, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Oh, and 5 points to the first person who can name the song that lady sang.  And yeah, that's a new feature.  I'm going to start tallying various points that you can earn and post the score on the sidebar.

Double Chin

I've gotten a few comments here and there about how awesome I look in that last picture. Well, I really hate to be the one to break the news, and I was just going to let it slide, but that was 6 years ago...before kids, before marriage and back when I was eating only 20 cookies at a time.

Translated

Yeah, our ward was translated.  And Rust and I got left behind.

Actually, what really happened was our ward moved to a new building and since we have no visiting or home teachers, and we never make it on time to catch the announcements, we have no idea where to go.  Which is really funny considering there are atleast 5 mormon churches within a mile of us.

I know why moms are fat!

It's because they're assimilated into 2-year-old logic.
Ashlyn's been good, so she gets two cookies.
I've been good, so I get 26!!!

I'm not brushing my teeth until you file my claim!

Take that Blue Cross!

It's been over three months since my teeth cleaning and my dentist keeps faxing the claim over to Blue Cross, and they keep denying that they're getting it. So guess what I get to do today? I get to take the claim that my dentist mailed me and I get to drive 30 miles to the Blue Cross office and hand it over to the workers, so they'll cover my $300 appointment. Well, until they get it taken care of I'm not brushing my teeth.
They're going to end up paying way more than $300 by the time I'm through with them!

Trip to WA

It's true!  The vacation time was approved and everything.  It's just going to be a quick trip, but if any of you want to hang, let me know!

We'll get there the wee hours of the 25th (Thursday) and we'll have to head back the 29th (Monday).  We're thinking of having a killer first birthday party for Austin (Saturday the 27th).

Hopefully, we'll be celebrating the birth of my new niece while I'm there, too.  Tiff - you can arrange that right??  ;)

Google Chrome rocks my world

Download it here!

I know you probably have some questions.  So let me try and answer.

What?  Google just launched a new browser.

Huh?  You may still be asking.  But that probably means you're over 50 and you should stick with Internet Explorer.

Why?  Well, it's because those google boys do everything better than anyone else.

The Story of Us

I had a friend who recently wrote about how she and her husband met. It was a great story and it inspired me to write my own. So here is the story of how Rusty and I met and how it came to be that we were married.

First some background. I had had a boyfriend for about 2 years straight before I met Rusty. Usually when one relationship ended, I went out on the rebound to get over him. One time I got dumped, and within a few hours went on a date with my new boyfriend. There was even some overlap between guys. :O Yeah, I didn't like to be alone. So the last time I got dumped, I realized that I just didn't know who I was. I was just always someone's girlfriend and hadn't been myself in a very long time. I know that sounds very 'Jenifer Love Hewitt' of me, but it's ok because Rusty looks a lot like the guy she dated after she said that, too.

Anyways, so May 2002 my goal for the summer was to not have a boyfriend and to go on a mission in December. I thought I would do some soul searching during that time. In the meantime, Marty (a really good friend of mine) and I drove to Idaho Falls for Annie's wedding. It was Saturday night when the reception ended and Marty and I decided that we would drive as far back to Silverdale as we could and pull over in a rest stop somewhere to sleep when we got tired. Anyways, I drove all night long. I was wired and felt some urgency to get to church the next day. I remember Marty asking me how it was that I was still awake and I told him, "I don't know. I think your eternal companion must be coming to church tomorrow." Actually, it was mine.

Rusty had just come back to Port Orchard for the summer from BYU. He planned on going to our combined Singles Ward just once (that Sunday) and then just go to his home ward (in another stake) for the rest of the summer. It was fast and testimony meeting and Marty decided to bare his testimony about me ('cuz that's what boys in Singles wards do). Well, I caught Rusty's eye and he decided that he would stay in the Singles Ward that summer and we started to hang out a lot. I was still trying to preserve my goal, so I avoided dating just him. In fact, we hung out a lot with his best friend Jared. The three of us did just about everything together. When I started to really like Rusty I threw my goal out the window. (It lasted about a month LOL). But I was still very careful about exclusively pairing off with him. I had a bit of a "reputation" in the singles ward, and didn't want to cause more gossip.

Two girls actually warned Rusty not to date me. LOL. I'm glad he didn't listen.

So Summer ended and Rusty headed to BYU Hawaii and I headed to BYU Idaho. He lasted a month there and dropped out and moved to Rexburg. If really should've dropped out myself and moved to Hawaii. What was I thinking? Rexburg is COLD!

Anyways, he officially proposed on Oct. 28 2002. I went on an all-day scavenger hunt that lead me to places we had been. At each place, there was a clue with a rose. All of my professors that day gave me roses and notes, too. He was at the last rose. He took me to dinner and then we went horse back riding. He had written me a song that he sang and then proposed. It was really funny because he was SO nervous during dinner that I had to say, "The temple is already reserved Rust. I'm going to say yes, so just chill!"

Engagement picture!

And then two months later (Dec. 28, 2002) we were married in the Seattle, WA temple.

It's been the best (almost) six years of my life!
