Plunge Worthy

There comes a time in everyone's life where they have to decide which of their friends (if any) are plunge worthy. That time has come for us. In two to six weeks, we'll be gone. We're selling our stuff and eating out the cupboards with the hopes of having almost nothing left by the time we move. We're certainly not wanting to buy anything new!
Well, our toilet backed up yesterday. Sometime in the last 14 months of Hawaiian living, we have failed to buy a plunger. As devestating as that is, we have failed in an even bigger way. None of our friends are plunge worthy. We don't know a single person on this island, whom we could call at 3AM and ask to borrow a plunger.
So evaluate your friendships! Cultivate your friendships! Call them up for a fondue party. Because when the time comes when you need them, it may be too late.

Vile Weed!

My fridge reaks of broccoli.

We're moving soon. We don't have all the facts on the move, but it'll happen sometime in the next 6 weeks to a place currently unknown to us. This means it's time to eat out our cupboards. The problem with this is that sometime in the last 9 months or so when I had some crazy craving, I bought some pretty gross stuff.

Exhibit A:
I had two boxes of this stuff. When Friday night came and I realized we had no meat thawed and two cans of tuna in the cupboards, I knew it was time...

When I opened the package and actually got a wiff of the stuff, I immediately changed my mind. Rusty was not to be deterred though. I kept mentioning his favorite dishes at local restaurants with the hopes to draw him away. This didn't work. Neither did my threats of leftovers. On to plan B.

Plan B:

In an attempt to sabotage dinner, I dumped an entire bag of frozen broccoli into the dish. Rusty hates broccoli. Although apparently, he's decided to try and eat his vegetables.
Plan C:
So I cooked it for 30 minutes longer than I was supposed to, hoping that the stuff would burn. But it has some weird chemical consistency that doesn't allow it to burn. Too bad. We ended up having it for dinner and for leftovers for two nights. Rusty has picked out the broccoli every time.

Pumpkin Butts

We scoured Honolulu trying to find a cheap pumpkin, but the cheapest I could find was $11. So we bought one and divided the sections of its face so we could all decorate it.

Here's daddy scooping out the pumpkin guts, or the "pumpkin butts" as Ashlyn called them.

This is the expression on Ashlyn's face as she's trying to declare her disgust for "pumpkin butts".

A Little Sleep Deprivation...

Rusty had a 9:00 class this morning and so as he was setting his alarm last night, I just had to laugh. If on the rare chance that he's actually still asleep at 8:00 AM, I think it's worth it to just skip the class.
